A greenwall, or living wall as it is also known, is a method of vertical planting that can be displayed inside or out. Generally used in urban areas to improve the look of grey buildings, greenwalls are a modular system containing a growing media, such as stonewool, and using an integrated watering system like drip irrigation.
These systems are also often used in urban growing environments as they absorb heat in the summer, reduce noise, increase oxygen levels and have energy saving qualities as they provide insulation. They are good because they are also starting to offer the opportunity of vertical farming, meaning people can incorporate fruit, vegetables and herbs.
